“Love is a Trojan horse, or perhaps this time it is an ass. In an abstract setting as seductive as it is reassuring, a series of sketches is presented, linked together in a simple dramaturgy, structured in a rigourous seriality. Thus far, it’s going well, it is fine. But then the dance which emerges mocks the repressed motifs of choreographic modernity, expressivity, figuration. Each scene is a sort of living tableau, laying in an image which then disappears, for awhile making us think that there is perhaps a story in here somewhere, but offering us no foothold in finding a meaning or some kind of logical commentary. Then we begin feeling a certain malaise, confronting this slightly regressive figuration, close to mime, to realise we are strangely familiar with these quasi-archetypal images which show no signs of intelligence and forbid all complicity or collusion. Of course then the compositional harmony is revealed to be a decoy, drawing the spectator far beyond his will to understand, in order to have him face a succession of othernesses rising up in a perpetual present. ”
